The Doedicurus lived in South America and was a heavily armoured herbivorous dinosaur from the Upper Cretaceous period. Its name means pestle tail. The animal was related to present day armadillos, sloths and anteaters and had an average overall length of around 12 ft and an average weight of approximately 3,100 lbs. Though glyptodonts were quadrupeds, large ones like Doedicurus may have been able to stand on two legs. It notably sported a spiked tail club, which may have been swung in defense against predators.
