Spider monkeys are New World primates that inhabit the rainforest regions of South America, Central America and Mexico. Their name comes from their extremely long spider-like limbs and prehensile tails, both of which make them one of the largest New World monkeys.
History: Believed to be the smartest of all the New World monkeys, spider monkeys are best known for their wide range of sounds and general hostility towards strangers. If disturbed, spider monkeys will make many different noises, including barking, whining, and screaming. They will even attempt to drop things such as tree branches on intruders.
